Office Based Position, Calgary, Alberta

Trenchless Crossing Inspectors
We are looking for contract Trenchless Crossing Inspectors to join our team for upcoming Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) construction projects in Alberta and British Columbia.

Position Requirements

This position is field based, and requires extended travel to remote locations year-round. Typical hours are 12-hour day or night shifts, with accommodations directly on site or in a nearby camp or hotel.

The Trenchless Crossing Inspector will be responsible for:
Inspection and supervision of HDD construction projects
Field reconnaissance of potential crossing locations – pipeline route and workspace scouting
Pre-construction planning in coordination with the engineering team
Construction site safety management and daily reporting
Detailed construction monitoring and reporting
Liaison with regulatory bodies, clients, contractors and BlueFox engineering team
Assist crossing and pipeline contractors with construction related issues (troubleshooting, problem solving)

This position is of a highly technical nature and requires frequent communication with engineers, construction managers, environmental monitors, surveyors, contractors and clients.

The following skills are required:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in MS office suite
Technical knowledge of pipeline construction, horizontal directional drilling construction and ancillary support services
Strong construction management skills, including: cost, schedule, quality and safety
Daily monitoring and reporting

The following experience is considered an asset:
Knowledge of directional steering and survey systems
Familiarity with CSA Z662 and Directive 50 requirements
Pipeline welding procedures
Construction site safety management and administration
Exposure to other trenchless construction methods (Microtunnel, Auger Bore, Direct Pipe, etc.)
The ideal candidate will possess at minimum five (5) years of pipeline construction experience with direct HDD experience in Alberta and British Columbia.

This is a contract position, and the candidate will need to fulfill the following commercial conditions:
Commercial general liability and automobile insurance, WCB and WorksafeBC coverage
Current and valid:
Driver’s license
H2S Alive
Standard First Aid / CPR
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Ground Disturbance
CSTS (or PST) certification
ATV Safety Training
Possess 4x4 vehicle, or have ability to rent as needed
Project Engineer / Technologist
We are looking for a full-time Project Engineer / Technologist to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta.

Position Summary

This position is primarily office-based but will require occasional travel to our construction sites. Typical work hours are Monday – Friday, 35 to 40 hours per week.

The primary role of the Project Engineer / Technologist is to support Construction Personnel, Senior Design Engineers and Project Managers to ensure the timely and efficient execution of our work, while adhering to the utmost quality standards.


Typical duties and activities performed by the Project Engineer / Technologist may include:
Utilize leading trenchless engineering practice to complete projects with support from senior staff
Receive and coordinate project documentation, HSEQ requirements, subcontractor submittals
Participate in project and construction meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes
Produce, review, revise and submit technical drawings, calculations and reports for project work
Interface with various project personnel and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Participate in the continuous improvement of company standards, methods, policies, procedures


The ideal candidate will possess the following training, qualifications and attributes:
Post-secondary education in Civil/Mechanical/Pipeline/Construction Engineering or Engineering Technology. Other relevant education may also be considered
Working capability in MS office suite
Technical knowledge of pipeline construction, horizontal directional drilling and microtunneling construction and ancillary support services will be considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to solve problems through analytical thinking, work well under pressure, pay attention to detail, accustomed to accelerated timelines and tight deadlines
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks will be considered an asset
Professional proficiency in written and verbal communication
Self starter with a positive attitude willing to perform a variety of task in a team environment

The ideal candidate will possess at minimum two (2) years of engineering or construction experience in Western Canada.
